I woke up ready to go this morning… but my phone wasn’t! I was surprised to see that for the first time I can remember, my phone wasn’t fully charged when I picked it up upon waking, despite it being plugged in all night!
Funny that the new iPhones have something called Optimized Battery Charging that reduces wear on the battery by reducing the time your phone spends fully charged. Your iPhone learns your habits and charging routine, and this feature only kicks in when the phone thinks it will be connected to a charge for a lengthy period. For the first time since I’ve had the phone, I was awake before it seemed to be.
That makes me laugh, because every day I’m awake before I’m fully charged and ready to go! And no, it’s not coffee that gets me there (although that’s part of my morning routine, to be sure!), but rather my devotional time with the Lord. I may be able to function, but I’m never fully charged and ready for the day until I’ve greeted, thanked, talked to, prayed to, sung to, laughed with, and learned from the Lord. The time all this takes doesn’t matter. I’ve learned not to start my day on less than 100%... a full charge.
So I plugged my phone back in for awhile while I enjoyed my morning devotions. When I was through, the phone was at 100%, and so was I.
“Listen, God! Please pay attention! Can you make sense of these ramblings, my groans and cries? King-God, I need your help. Every morning you’ll hear me at it again. Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on your altar and watch for fire to descend.”
