The GOODNESS of GOD

 

Oh my goodness – I didn’t have any idea what I was going to write on today – none at all – until I read in my “One Line A Day” book that last year at this time, my beloved little dog, Esmee, had been lost overnight. I remember how desperate I felt at the hopelessness of the situation… acres and acres of woods around me, filled with coyotes and other dangers while my little white “lamb” was out there scared and lost and alone, totally unprepared to deal with her surroundings. And even more do I remember the overwhelming joy of the moment I held her in my arms once more, days later. And suddenly I knew that I would be writing about the goodness of God and His mercy in giving her back to me. How can I look at her and not see a miracle? Thank You, Lord, all over again!!!

It is a true privilege to be allowed to write daily, as I have been. And I need never wonder what I should write about, because the answer to that question is always “the goodness of God”!!! Maybe a better question would be, “What situation in my life best illustrated God’s goodness today?”

And then the next question is, “How can I best express that? What ‘Words’ do I use?”

I capitalize “Words” because I believe the ones I need to use are holy and absolutely given to me by the Holy Spirit. In fact, over the years I’ve learned that if I don’t hear from Him first, I have no business picking up a pen.

I’m so thankful for the privilege of doing so today.
